“Who does not see that I have taken a road along which I shall go, without stopping and without effort, as long as there is ink and paper in the world? I cannot keep a record of my life by my actions; fortune places them too low. I keep it by my thoughts.”
Michel de Montaigne

workshop: Life Lessons

Life Lessons: Reflecting On The Meaning of Experiences

Why do some people believe their lives are marked by wonderful achievements? Why do some say they haven’t lived “important” lives? The value of the experience is in the eye of the beholder.

Participants are guided through a series of enjoyable, interactive exercises that will inspire them to reflect, write and share the most important moments and insights of their lives. They will take home a folder of ideas for stories they can use to teach their life lessons to the next generation by creating their own memoir.

Topics

This workshop helps us to focus on the valuable lessons and milestones that have transformed our lives. Participants will:

  • Use Top 10 Lists to identify stories illustrating turning points, core values, wisdom or expertise
  • Create a Life Resume to identify transformational moments or accomplishments
  • Script the outline of a movie of their lives to identify “scenes” that are essential
  • Increase each story’s significance by adding themes, symbols, and introductions and conclusions that offer levels of meaning.
